Beautiful People
The charity War Child launched the Secret 7" competition again in early 2025 to raise money for children affected by conflict. This has never felt like a more important cause.
This year I chose the song Beautiful People by Jessie Ware - it resonated with me the most but also felt like a theme I could really have fun with.
My design is heavily influenced by the lyrics of the song which evoke a feeling of carefree glamour. There are of course many elements that are very literal but I felt that the song speaks to the power of friendship and the importance of finding joy in difficult times. I was inspired to capture these feelings in my illustration.
On a personal level, I was inspired to enter with this song because it has been therapeutic for me to listen to it and illustrate my vision of beautiful people. In the current political climate and during a time of my own mental health struggles, this process was a welcome break from the heaviness. Overall, the song is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for the future.
